欣谢尔伍德陨石坑

欣谢尔伍德陨石坑（Hinshelwood）是位于月球背面北极的一座小撞击坑， 其名称取自英国化学家，1956年诺贝尔物理学奖得主之一西里尔·欣谢尔伍德（1897年-1967年），2009年4月17日被国际天文学联合会正式接受。

描述

该陨坑位于的较大皮里环形山和埃尔米特环形山之间，南面正对着月球北极 [1]。该陨坑中心月面坐标为89.41°N 51.89°W / 89.41; -51.89，直径13.35公里[2]，深约2.16公里[3]。

欣谢尔伍德陨石坑外观轮廓圆状，坑壁最大高出周边地形表面500米[3]，由于靠近北极，坑内几乎永久笼罩在黑暗中。
