海鷗星雲

IC 2177（又名海鷗星雲）是在麒麟座和大犬座這兩個星座交界區域的一個巨大星雲。 它是一個外觀近乎圓形的氫離子區，在中心有一顆Be星HD 53367 [3]。這個星雲是威爾斯的業餘天文學家以撒·羅伯茨發現的，他形容這個星雲是"非常明亮、巨極大、不規則的圓形、非常散漫"[4]。

業餘天文學家有時將這一片發射星雲稱為海鷗星雲，但要將周圍的星團、塵埃雲和反射星雲包括在內才恰當。後者包括星團NGC 2335和NGC 2343等區域[5]。
