红喉北蜂鸟（学名：）是一种蜂鸟。与所有其他蜂鸟一样，这个物种属于蜂鸟科，目前已列入雨燕目。这种蜂鸟是唯一的筑巢在北美密西西比河东部的蜂鸟。

描述

红喉北蜂鸟是在美国东部和加拿大东部繁殖的最小的鸟类物种。这种蜂鸟通常长度为7到9厘米（2.8到3.5英寸），翼展为8到11厘米（3.1到4.3英寸）。重量范围2至6克（0.071至0.21盎司），雄性平均为3.4克（0.12盎司），雌性个头稍大，平均为3.8克（0.13盎司）。[2][3]成鸟上半部为绿色，腹部为灰白色，翅膀接近黑色。喙长度可达2厘米，修长且直。与其他蜂鸟一样，其脚趾和脚非常小，中间的脚趾约0.6厘米长。红喉北蜂鸟如果想在树枝上移动的话只能拖着脚走。.[4][5]

该物种两性异形。[6]每年更新一次羽毛，从夏末开始。

习性和分布

繁殖栖息地在整个北美东部和加拿大大草原，在落叶松林和森林边缘，果园和花园。雌性在灌木或树上的一个受保护的位置建巢。在美国所有的蜂鸟种，这个品种具有最大的繁殖范围。[4]

红喉北蜂鸟是候鸟，冬季大部分时间在墨西哥南部和中美洲，南至巴拿马最西部，[7]和西印度群岛。孕育期在整个美国东部，加拿大东部和南部混合落叶林。
