傅萊德里·修特

傅萊德里·修特（Frederik L. Schodt；1950年1月22日－），是美國的翻譯家、口譯與作家。

生平

由於修特的父親曾從事美國的外交工作，因此他曾於挪威、澳洲與日本居住。1965年(15歲)他們全家前往日本，不過他們家於1967年離開日本，留下修特於日本的美國學校繼續求學至1968年。1970年修特進入加州大學聖塔芭芭拉分校就讀後，又交換學生到日本並研讀日本國際基督教大學一年半的時間。1972年加州大學畢業，並在短暫的波希米亞主義式的工作與旅行後，他成為洛杉磯的日本旅客導遊，專門陪同旅客前往加拿大與墨西哥。

他曾在香吉士公司嘗試過口譯工作，並在之後決心持續口譯的訓練。1975年他獲得日本文部省的獎學金，回到日本國際基督教大學研修翻譯與口譯。1977年畢業後，他於東京的塞摩爾（Simul）翻譯公司短暫工作，並與一些大學朋友聯繫上手塚治虫公司，獲得手塚的允許翻譯英文版的火鳥。1978年中他返回美國舊金山，擔任自由作家、翻譯家與口譯。

修特是動漫畫迷，最著名的譯作像是手塚治虫的火鳥、原子小金剛；池田理代子的凡爾賽玫瑰；中沢啓治的赤足小子；木山亨利（木山義喬）的漫畫四人書生等等。

他最著名的專著為1983年由手塚治虫推薦、印行並數度再刷的《Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics》。該本書在1983年獲得漫畫奧斯卡獎，並在2000年獲得日本朝日新聞的手塚治虫文化獎的特別獎殊榮，以茲表揚其傑出的漫畫推廣貢獻。
