印度象

印度象（Elephas maximus indicus）是亞洲象的亞種之一，生活在亞洲大陸上。自1986年以來被IUCN列爲瀕危物种[1]。雖然叫做印度象，但實際其分佈範圍還包括泰國等東南亞國家及中國。[2]

特徵

它體型比非洲象要小[3]，其肩部高度在2～3.5（6.6～11.5英尺）之間，重量在2,000～5,000（4,400～11,000英磅）之間。雌性通常小於雄性，有的雌性擁有較短的象牙[4]。

分布地区

印度象主要分布于印度、泰国、中国等国家。

保护等级

自1986年以來，印度象就被国际自然保护联盟列为濒危物种。
