2017年2月，CBS將推出《反恐特警組》的電視劇改編版本，林詣彬、蕭恩·萊恩與尼爾·H·摩里茲將作為監製，並已確定訂下試播集[11]。《反恐特警組》的節目統籌為亞倫·拉沙·湯瑪士[12]，湯瑪士也和萊恩共同擔任執行製片人[12]。2017年12月1日，第一季增加至22集[13]。

亞洲FOX緊貼美國於12小時內首播，香港譯名為《特警》。臺灣由FOX+跟隨亞洲FOX搶先上線，起初暫定名為《特警》，後改使用臺灣譯名《SWAT反恐特警組》，不過臺灣FOX頻道最初的預告片名是使用《S.W.A.T.反恐特勤組》，[80] 幾日後才正式更改為與FOX+相同之譯名《SWAT反恐特警組》。[81]
