平安夜 (歌曲)

《平安夜》（德語：）是一首十分流行的傳統圣诞颂歌，原始的歌词由约瑟夫·莫尔神父使用德文寫成，作曲则是由奥地利一所小学的校长Franz Gruber完成。现代传唱的版本的乐曲与Gruber原始版本有些微的不同（特别是在最后部分的变化）。

此歌已知被翻译成世界上超过44多种语言[1]，依然是最流行的聖誕歌曲。没有音乐伴奏人们也会经常吟唱，在路德教会它有特殊的重要意义。2011年，這首歌被聯合國教科文組織宣告為非物質文化遺產[2]。

歷史

这首颂歌1818年12月24日第一次在奥地利欧本多夫当地的圣尼古拉教堂演出。Mohr在此之前2年就已经写出了歌词，但是在这个平安夜他才带给Gruber，请求他编一首吉他伴奏曲子。这样做的原因不明；可能Mohr只是想为子夜弥撒作一首新的颂歌，也有传说当晚圣尼古拉教堂的管风琴不能工作（故事一个流行的版本说因为老鼠咬坏了管风琴的风箱）[3]。

圣尼古拉教堂因为洪水1900年代早期遭到破坏，因此小镇的中心迁移到河上游较安全的地方，一所新的教堂建在了靠近一坐新桥的岸边。一个很小的称作[4]（平安夜纪念小教堂）小教堂建在了原来被毁坏的教堂遗址上，旁边最近的房子又改建成了一个博物馆，这里全年都吸引着全世界的游客前来访问，但是起初的时候只是在12月。

原始手稿已经遗失，不过1995年发现了Mohr的一份经研究确定于1820年左右所写的手稿。手稿显示Mohr在1816年他被分配到奥地利Mariapfarr的朝圣教堂的时候写了歌词，还显示Gruber在1818年为歌词作曲。这是现存最早的手稿，也是唯一的Mohr的笔迹写成的。Gruber所作的曲子受到当地乡间音乐的影响。歌曲的旋律类似于奥地利民间音乐和岳得尔歌。

1943年奥地利流亡人士Hertha Pauli为这首歌写了一本书，书名是《Silent Night. A Story of a Song》，在这本书里他给美国小朋友解释了这首歌是怎么来的。这本书后来由Fritz Kredel改编为画册，并又Alfred A. Knopf出版发行[5]。

关于这首歌另一个流行的说法是，第一次演出后，它很快就被人忘记了，直到修管风琴的师傅1825年发现了手稿并重新上演。然而Gruber在贯穿他的整个生命的这段时间都在改编它。我们现有的Mohr改编版（约1820年）保存在萨尔兹堡Carolino Augusteum博物馆。
