英國皇家飛行隊
皇家飛行隊（Royal Flying Corps）(RFC)是第一次世界大戰中英國陸軍的航空兵。在戰爭的早期，皇家飛行隊主要通過火炮協作、照片偵察來支援英國陸軍。這些工作漸漸轉變到飛行員之間的空戰 ，到戰爭的後期，這些工作包括襲擊敵人的步兵部隊和砲台，轟炸德國機場，後來發展到戰略轟炸德國的工業和運輸設備。

在一戰開始的時候，由David Henderson領導的皇家飛行隊由5個中隊（squadron）組成。包括1個觀察氣球（Observation balloon）中隊（皇家飛行隊第一中隊）和4個飛機中隊（第二和第三中隊是世界上第一個固定翼飛行中隊）。[1] 它們最早於1914年9月13日用於空中觀靶，但是只有在1915年5月9日在Aubers Ridge使用了無線通訊後，這一應用才開始完善。航空攝影（Aerial photography）也於1914年開始試驗，同樣在下一年才開始完善。到1918年拍攝可以在15000英尺高度進行，有超過3000人進行判讀。
