釋妙光

释妙光法師，俗名莊惠雯，出生于台湾，12岁时随家庭移民到澳大利亚[1][2]。现为釋星雲法師的首席英文翻译员[1] 页面存档备份，存于、比丘尼，佛光山人間佛教研究院的副院長[3][4]、佛光大辭典英譯計畫總召集人[5]、南華大學宗教所兼任助理教授。

生平

11歲時，舉家移民澳洲。高中時有因緣接觸南天寺，並擔任義工，協助翻譯佛學的文章，逢禪修、佛學講座協助口譯，透此一步一步的磨練，逐漸累積許多經驗。二○○○年依止星雲大師出家，是年於佛光山寺受具足戒。師精通中文、日語、英語、粵語、客家話。大師於世界弘法，隨侍英文翻譯，足跡遍及全球三十餘個國家地區，曾在大師與教宗本篤十六世、馬來西亞兩任總理馬哈迪、納吉等世界宗教及國家領袖等人見面時擔任翻譯。大師於日內瓦聯合國會議中心、紐約洛克斐勒中心、台北小巨蛋等國際大小講演場合，擔任英文口譯。口譯之流暢與優美，數次於國際場合中受到中華民國總統馬英九讚歎，表示佛光山比丘尼水準特別高。

師於隨侍英譯之外，亦曾前往歐洲日內瓦、巴黎、倫敦、維也納，澳洲雪梨、布里斯本、墨爾本，美國、新加坡、菲律賓等地演講。[6]

评价

釋星雲曾称赞释妙光的翻译水准，“我不會英文，但凡是聽過她翻譯的人，都讚不絕口，表示我說話的內容，經過她翻譯的英文，非常清楚易懂，措辭準確，聲音優美，說話抑揚頓挫，就像唱歌一樣。”[7]
