VMware Workstation Player是VMware推出的一款简易虚拟机软件，是VMware Workstation的免費版，功能较VMware Workstation Pro简单，可免费用于个人非商业用途（VMware Workstation Pro才能用于商业用途）。VMware Workstation Pro安裝過程會一併安裝VMware Workstation Player，用户也可以在VMware网站下载VMware Workstation Player。

2008年6月6日，VMware發表VMware Player 1.0，功能较VMware Workstation简单，但獨立於VMware Workstation之外。
2015年，VMware Workstation發表12版，VMware Player轉型為VMware Workstation的免費版並改名為VMware Workstation Player，VMware Workstation的付費版定名為VMware Workstation Pro。
