世界艾滋病日

世界艾滋病日（英語：）訂於每年的12月1日。1987年8月，這個紀念日最早由世界卫生组织的两名官员詹姆士·W·邦恩和托马斯·内特提出，[1][2]自1988年開始，本日正式被訂為世界艾滋病日。[3]这天旨在提高公众对人類免疫缺陷病毒引起的艾滋病在全球传播的意识，並對死於該疾病的人表示哀悼。

截至2019年，艾滋病已造成全球3270萬人死亡。而據估計，共有3800萬人攜帶HIV病毒。[4]因此，艾滋病已成為全世界有史以來最重要的公共卫生議題。由於近年來，世界許多地區方能獲取抗反轉錄病毒藥物，艾滋病的死亡率自2005年的最高點開始降低（2016年為100萬，2005年為190萬）。[4]
