古新世至上新世的时间表
直轴：百万年前

伊普雷斯期是始新世的第一个阶段，常与早始新亚世相对应，不过在某些情况下早始新亚世还包括卢台特期。

该阶的起始和终止时间分别为56百万年前和47.8百万年前。

地层定义

该阶以比利时伊佩尔地区之名命名。著名的德国麦塞尔页岩即出自该时期。

物种

5,500万年前，灵长目动物即在该时期出现。
