    • 漁陽太守彭寵向光武帝舉起叛旗，攻撃駐留薊縣（今北京）的朱浮，寵撃破光武帝派遣的遊撃將軍鄧隆的軍隊，再撃破朱浮，占領薊，自稱燕王，贈給匈奴單于貢物請求支援，與齊王張步、富平軍、獲索軍（北方地方軍）結盟，建立北方一大自立力量。
    • 大司馬吳漢討伐荊州宛縣董訢，吳漢軍隊在途中掠奪，鄧奉的故鄉新野被殘害。鄧奉被激怒，撃破吳漢軍，叛漢。
