背景和发行

在正式发行之前，《I Could Be the One》的名字一直在经历各种变化。歌曲最初并没有名字，2011年11月18日，艾维奇在美国华盛顿DC军工厂的Super Glow上首次演唱了该歌曲。后歌曲被命名为《Nicktim》，即两位制作人的名字组合（“Nick” Rotteveel及“Tim” Bergling）[3]。《I Could Be the One》伴奏版包含一段Justice乐队的《D.A.N.C.E.》节录部分，后来此部分在最终版本中被删除[3]。
